ABOUT US

THE KRC STORY

After several years of working in corporate management in the United States, Kate’s life and work took an international and humanitarian turn, allowing her to spend 17 years working in conflict-affected and post-disaster deployments in over 25 countries around the globe, including: Haiti, Congo-DRC, Gaza, Cambodia, Jordan, Uganda, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Vietnam, Lebanon, Ukraine and Serbia.

After many years in humanitarian service, Kate started to notice an increasing sense of exhaustion, cynicism and disillusionment.

Disturbed to find that she had lost her sense purpose and forgotten why she had started this work that she was previously so passionate about, she started seeking answers, eventually realizing that she was experiencing burnout.

As part of her own quest to recover, Kate became increasingly involved in supporting and promoting access to relevant and appropriate Psychosocial Support and Staff Care & Well-being services tailored for those working in humanitarian and development contexts.

Kate became a Certified Master Coach and Staff-Care & Employee Well-being Specialist, focused on International Humanitarian Aid and non-profits. As her work expanded, she created Kate Roberts Consulting (KRC) to support humanitarians to create successful, fulfilling and intentional lives and careers in the midst of challenging and ever-changing contexts.

As KRC has grown, Kate has partnered with like-minded coaches, consultants, and trainers to expand both the reach and the services and KRC provides.

And so, here we are!

About Kate

As a Humanitarian Master Coach…

As a Certified Master Coach, my professional practice now draws on my years of living and working in complicated and high-stress environments. These experiences have equipped me with skills and perspective to understand the unique challenges faced by my clients who are engaged in humanitarian and development work.

My clients represent diverse cultures and professional backgrounds, who are seeking an authentic and meaningful environment for themselves and who are ready to make significant changes in their personal life, career and well-being

I am an active member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), involved with their Communities of Practice and hold to their ethical practice guidelines.

As a Staff Care & Employee Well-being Specialist…

I support Humanitarian and Development Organizations to develop and strengthen their Staff Care & Employee Well-being plans and Psychosocial Support programming. I work with organizational focal points to identify barriers and create pathways in prevention and response of Stress, Overwhelm and Burnout.

I have continued to stay involved in related research projects and ongoing studies in psychology, trauma-informed care and global mental health with Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins University and Fordham University.

As a Psychosocial Support Consultant…

With a background in Counseling Psychology, Mental Health and Humanitarian Management, I support individuals in a therapeutic space to process distressing events and environments, and to overcome their unique challenges.

In focused person-to-person care, Psychosocial Support addresses a combination of psychological aspects of human and social experiences and provides support in working through stressful situations, making sense of what is going on and gaining a sense of balance and clarity.

As a Human…

Originally from the U.S., I now divide my time between my adopted home of Portugal and traveling around the globe. I am passionate about the world around me and the people in it. You never know where I’ll be ringing in from on our next session…schedule a call with me and find out!
